6 things to know about the billing department:

    1.  We bill all primary and secondary insurance agencies which includes Medicare and Medicaid.  We do not except Pennsylvania Medicaid.

    2.  Patients are responsible for all balances and co pays not covered by the insurance company.

    3.  Monthly payments are excepted on all balances.  Monthly payments can be arranged by contacting the billing department.

    4.  The BCEMS is HIPAA compliant.  A patient's signature is required to bill their insurance and to verify that a "notice of privacy rights" was received.  Brooke County Ambulance Service Notice of Privacy Practices.

    5.  Ambulance services must be medically necessary and reasonable.  Medical necessity is established when the patient's condition is such that use of any other method of transportation is contraindicated. 

    6.  **Response Fee**  A $50.00 response fee is charged to the patient when a 911 emergency response results in the patient refusing transport to the hospital and medical intervention was administered i.e.. vital signs, oxygen, glucometer reading, meds, assessment, splints, bandaging, ect.
